Indian singer Sonu Nigham has again made headlines owing to a recent interview to AajTak suggesting that he is not so happy with the current music scene in Bollywood. The singer said “Sometimes I feel as if it would have been better if I were from Pakistan. At least I would get offers from India. However after being criticized for his statement Nigham took to social media and clarified what his statement actually meant.
Manto Biopic Banned in Pakistan
1. Manto biopic would not screen in Pakistani theaters owing to the fact that the film has anti – partition narrative theme. The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of author play- write Sadat Husain Manto. Director Nandita Das took to twitter and expressed her disappointment over the fact that the film was debarred in Pakistan by the Censor Board. Das while defending her film wrote an article giving numerous reasons why her film should not be banned in Pakistan. She also wrote that Manto belonged to both India and Pakistan therefore she wanted the film to release in both countries simultaneously. Some poets, artists and intellectuals in Pakistan have criticized the Censor Board for threatening the creative and artistic freedom in the country by banning the film. The film was premiered in Mumbai earlier this month with notable actors Shabana Azmi and Rekha in attendance. However, director Das was much trilled to have Manto’s daughters Nuzhat and Nusrat with her at the Mumbai premier.
Mirza Ghalib’s Birth Anniversary to be celebrated in a Befitting manner this year
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced earlier this month that this year Ghalib’s birth anniversary would be celebrated in a befitting manner. Chaudhry said that the purpose of celebrating Ghalib‘s birth anniversary was to introduce the works and achievements of the great poet to the new generation. According to the information and broadcasting minister directives regarding arranging Mushairas and other programs on 27th December have already been issued.

Action thriller Gumm featuring Sammi Khan, Shameen Khan and Shamoon Abbassi in leading roles is scheduled to release in January 2019. The film on account of its interesting trailer has already surprised the audiences. The trailer features Sammi Khan in a jungle suffering a memory loss in the wake of a bank robbery. Then in the next short Shamoon Abbasi could be seen accompanying Sammi Khan in the middle of nowhere with a bag full of cash. However what is more surprising is that Abbasi seems to be convincing Sammi Khan that the money belongs to him and is for her daughter’s wedding.
Teefa in Trouble is now on Netflix worldwide other than Pakistan and China
Film Teefa in trouble released on 20th July 2018 turned out to be one of the best films of the year. The film has earned 32.225 crores at the box office becoming the third highest grossing film in Pakistan. However, what is more surprising is that the film can now be watched on Netflix around the world excluding Pakistan and China. Ali Zafar and Maya Ali informed their fans using their respective social media platforms that the film has released globally on Netflix expect Pakistan.
