The yearlong summers in Pakistan force all of us to bring the breeziest and the lightest of fabrics out of our closets and so we retreat to our comfort zone of cotton kurtas and lawn kameez shalwars. The fun part of wearing any outfit however, comes in accessorizing it to give it a complete look. While creating a fusion look with western accessories is always an option, going with eastern accessories to give off desi vibes is what we are up for this season.
Belt It Up:
Belts are trending this year like anything and give a really pulled together look without putting in too much effort. Celebrities and runway models have been seen belting up their dupattas with shalwar kameez and the result is really chic but that still does not complete our definition of a complete eastern look. Instead of wearing belts head to nearest market and buy tassel dori. Use it to belt your dupatta around the waist and you are ready to hit the trend while going eastern at the same time.
Classic or Tribal:
Silver jewelry and eastern wear is a timeless classic. Just an addition of silver jewelry can give such an elegant and poised look to the whole outfit. Wear a silver statement coin necklace with your printed lawn joras to make a bold statement. Not in the mood for bold statement? Go for small silver jhumkas to complete the look and remain low key while still making a statement with your eastern wear.
Who says eastern has always got to be classic? Add fun element to your outfit with a splash of colors with the tribal Afghan Kuchi earrings. These go extremely well with a classic white kameez shalwar but would brighten up any outfit. Pair these up with any of your solid colored kurtas to add even more colour to your look.
Bag The Look:
Accessories are not only meant to make the person wearing it look pretty. Accessories like bags not only complete the outfit but also offer functionality. So, If you have decided to go for an all eastern look make sure your bag follows the theme too. Carry an Afghan metal clutch to your formal meetings and make a statement right away. These come in neutral colours to go with every outfit in your wardrobe or carry the one with coloured embellishments for that pop of colour in your otherwise monochromatic outfit. Either way an Afghan metal clutch will speak up way more than any other accessory.
For your university classes or casual days out carry a handmade cloth bag made by local artisans. These bags have abundance of space and will adjust all of your essentials. Not only this, these bags encapsulate almost all of the colours so you would not have to worry about matching a different bag with a new outfit every day.
Don’t want to carry a bag this big to a casual lunch date with your friends? Carry a patchwork purse and it offers the same except for size factor.
